Class Announcements
12/13: PDF versions of your ppts are up and online, as well as a few photos.
Thanks for a great quarter!!!
cheers, us
11/27: Second Field Report on Lobos vs. Hopkins due one week from today; visit the class handout page for write up questions and figures
11/26: Class photos from past dives are starting to pop up on the 2007 class photo web page.
11/20: Remember to complete, have Mark or Pete sign your dive proposals to Steve before next Tuesday.
11/19: Ok, so we were given approval from Hopkins to dive on alternate days- however, the only days you can dive besides class days are Monday and Wednesday. Freya sent along some guidelines: a)email her to let her know who you are and when you will be there- ccing Amanda and/or Kendra on this is not a bad idea. b) sign your name in and out on the sheet that they have in their dive locker. c) be respectful, quiet and clean. Steve C had a few additions to this- make sure that you have signed the Driver's Waiver and have given it to Kendra or Amanda, and also make sure that you have checked your tanks out of the dive locker, and DO NOT forget to take an O2 kit down with you.
Project proposals also need to be in to Steve C- this should have been done prior to starting work on your project, but I know that is not the case. If you haven't been able to get Mark or Pete to sign it, bring it with you Tuesday to be initially approved by the TAs, signed by the Drs and then you can turn it in to Steve. If you don't have a propsal with you, or already on file, you will not be diving.
11/16: Keep TA's updated on what you will need for diving. We are currently inquiring with Hopkins about the possibility of additional diving days and times for you to go down on your own. Have you started to think about your final paper and analysis yet?
11/14: Any re-writes of the qualitative paper are due tomorrow (Thursday), in electronic form. We're going diving (and the water will be the color of this text!) Keep the TAs up-to-date with what you need on your project, and if you'll be diving with us or working more independantly with another grad student.
11/2: The remaining 4 papers (listed as weeks 5 and 6) will all be presented on Tuesday. The midterm will be on Thursday. It ISN'T take home, and yes, the papers that we have read in class will be on it. You will also be presenting your project proposal in class on Thursday after the midterm, so start multi-tasking...
10/25: Looking for ideas for a class project? Attached is a list of past projects from 2001-2005.
10/19: Your first field report is due on Tuesday morning BEFORE we leave to dive. Please review your dive group for Tuesday so that you show up at the correct time. Team Hopkins meets at 6:30, Team Lobos at 7.
10/16: We will be having lecture on Thursday (10/18), instead of next Tuesday (10/23) due to weather (and sharks). We'll see you at the COH at 8am... if you show up to dive you'll be very disappointed! Those of you who are scheduled to present papers on Tuesday will be presenting this Thursday instead.
10/15: Fish lecture up in three version; 6 slides per page in color, 4 slides per page in color, and 6 slides per page in grayscale. Also: DATA, STATS and SAMPLING Questions are active under the Class Handouts page 10/12: Class Dive Log is up and will be updated periodically
