What is Beer's Law?
The term "Beer's Law" is a shortened form of "Beer-Lambert Law". This "law" describes the relationship between the concentration of a colored solution and that amount of light the solution absorbs or transmits.
In its most useful form the law is summarized by the equation
A = ecl
Absorbance = extinction coeficient x solute concentration x path length
Absorbance is defined as log (IO / IT).
The extinction Coefficient is a characteristic constant for each solute under given conditions and wavelength.
Hard to believe you didn't cover this in Chemistry Lab???
